Working Meeting

The Head of Meridian College, the Senior Specialist for Educational Process Management, and the Quality Management Manager held a working meeting with vocational education teachers. The meeting focused on issues such as reviewing the completed educational process, discussing the general results of the student satisfaction survey, and outlining future plans.

Practical Training Logbook

After completing the theoretical component of their studies, students of Meridian College began practical training onboard vessels. They regularly recorded and documented their practical activities in a specially developed Practical Training Logbook prepared by the College.

The logbook provided a detailed record of the work process, the tasks performed by the students, and the practical experience they gained during their onboard training.

June 25 – International Day of the Seafarer

Visit of Napa Project, Novikontas and Brand to Meridian College

Students of Meridian College met with representatives of partner companies Napa Project, Novikontas, and Brand, including a Dutch company, which support the employment of active seafarers and vocational education students in the maritime industry.

NAPA Projects Visits Meridian College.

A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Meridian Maritime Training Center LLC and NAPA Projects LLC. During the meeting, the parties discussed future employment opportunities that NAPA Projects will offer to students within the framework of the partnership.

Construction of Meridian’s New Training Facility Completed

Construction of Meridian’s new training facility has been completed, and from now on our seafarers will undergo the practical components of maritime training courses at this facility.

The training facility fully complies with current maritime practices and the relevant international and national requirements.

The following practical training courses will be conducted at the facility:

1) Advanced Fire Fighting;

2) Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting;

3) Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations;

4) Advanced Training for Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations;

5) Basic Training for Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations.

As for the training pool, the equipping process is currently underway and will be completed soon.

Textbook – Maritime Trade of the World and Georgia

Meridian has published Professor Guram Khajishvili’s textbook “Maritime Trade of the World and Georgia,” which introduces the key aspects of maritime trade and its main directions of development.

Training – Modern Management and Its Core Principles

The Meridian team completed a training course on “Modern Management and Its Core Principles,” led by Sopio Lebanidze, Associate Professor at Ilia State University and invited trainer at the Center for Personal and Professional Development.

Vocational Education Program: Deck Department Operation

Qualification Awarded: Basic Vocational Qualification in Deck Department Operation – Rating

The duration of the program is 15 months: 9 months of theoretical training and 6 months of practical training onboard a vessel.

Admission Requirements: At least a document confirming completion of basic general education (9th grade) and a motivational interview.

Graduates may be employed on vessels engaged in international or domestic navigation, as well as in public or private institutions related to maritime transport services and operations.

Registration for the vocational education program will be open from April 22 through May 16.

Health and Safety Training

On April 11, 2024, Meridian employees participated in Health and Safety Training.

The company has established Occupational Health and Safety regulations and procedures aimed at creating a safe and comfortable workplace, improving working conditions, and minimizing the risks of work-related injuries and harm to employees’ health.
