Informational Visits to Schools

To raise awareness of the seafaring profession and introduce students to the educational opportunities available at Meridian College, representatives of the College visited schools in Batumi, Chakvi, Kobuleti, Khulo, and Shuakhevi.

The purpose of these meetings was to provide school students with information about the opportunities offered by Meridian College.

All meetings were conducted in an interactive, discussion-based format, allowing students to ask questions and receive comprehensive answers from College representatives.

Visit to College Black Sea

Representatives of Meridian College visited the Shuakhevi branch of College Black Sea, where they introduced students of the welding and electrical programs to employment opportunities onboard vessels and explained the steps required before starting work at sea.

Lucent Maritime Visits Meridian College

The Managing Director and representatives of Lucent Maritime visited Meridian College and met with the students.

During the meeting, they discussed future employment opportunities that Lucent Maritime offers to students within the framework of the partnership.

Football Tournament

At the end of winter, students of Meridian College held an internal football tournament.

The winning team was selected and will represent the College in an upcoming inter-college football tournament.

Meridian Students Visit the Hydrographic Service

Students of Meridian visited the Hydrographic Service of Georgia, where they became familiar with navigational equipment systems, lighted and unlighted navigational aids, as well as cardinal and lateral marks located at sea that help ensure the safe navigation of vessels.

Cybersecurity Training

On February 22, 2024, Meridian employees participated in a cybersecurity training session. Upon completion of the training, Meridian employees were awarded certificates

Bonus Lectures by Professor Guram Khajishvili

Bonus lectures for Meridian students on “Maritime Trade of the World and Georgia”, delivered by Professor Guram Khajishvili.

Ocean Gold Batumi Visits Meridian College

Ms. Nino Gorgoshadze, Director of Ocean Gold Batumi, visited students at Meridian College.

During the meeting, Ms. Gorgoshadze introduced the students to the role of maritime companies in seafarers’ education and discussed future career prospects in the maritime industry.

Intellectual Game – What? Where? When?

The intellectual game “What? Where? When?” was held at Meridian College.

All 20 participants received books as prizes, while the winning team was additionally awarded certificates and English language textbooks developed by Meridian.

Meridian will continue to actively organize a variety of educational and extracurricular activities.

Open Lecture by Master Mariner Mikheil Tsintsadze

Meridian College organized an open lecture for its students, delivered by Master Mariner Mikheil Tsintsadze.

The lecture covered topics such as safety on board, psychological resilience and endurance, as well as the specific aspects of working on chemical tankers
