LLC “Meridian Maritime Training Center” was established on 23 February 2021. The institution’s core activity was defined as the delivery of training and certification programmes for seafarers.

The institution aims to provide its customers with high-quality services that fully comply with international and national requirements. The Center implements its quality management system in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 standard and has gained international recognition from Lloyd’s Register, one of the leading classification societies in the maritime industry, which awarded the Center a certificate confirming the compliance of its quality management system with the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

The institution is also recognized by the national regulatory authority of the sector — the LEPL Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia.

The successful development of “Meridian Maritime Training Center”, the needs of international and local partners, as well as the analysis of labour market demands, created the basis in 2022 for the development of a new direction. A decision was made to define vocational education as one of the institution’s important areas of activity and to implement the modular programme “Operation of the Deck Department”.

To achieve this goal, significant preparatory work was carried out, as a result of which, on 15 May 2023, “Meridian” received authorization from the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement.

On 10 September 2023, the College started the registration of applicants. During the very first intake, 160 applications were submitted for 96 available places, which represents a significant indicator of high interest in and competition for the programme.

The institution believes that its accumulated experience, qualified human resources and strong material and technical base enable the College to contribute to the preparation of highly qualified, competitive and employable professionals who are in demand in the maritime labour market.

The College does not stop at the results already achieved and continues its development in pursuit of broader goals.

By the decision of the Authorization Council for Vocational Educational Institutions, from spring 2026, College “Meridian” will implement the Level IV vocational educational programme “Operation of the Deck Department”. The duration of the programme is 11 months.
