On June 6, 7, and 8, employees of Meridian Maritime Training Center College participated in the “Company Instructor Training”, organized by the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry within the framework of the German BBP Project.
The training focused on the role and responsibilities of company instructors/trainers, as well as their importance in strengthening cooperation between vocational education institutions, students, and companies.

“Vocational Education Students’ Festival – Meridian College participated in the “Vocational Education Students’ Festival.”
As part of the festival, an exhibition area was organized where representatives of vocational education institutions presented their colleges and educational opportunities.
The objectives of the festival were to:
promote vocational education and professions;
attract young people and prospective students;
encourage the exchange of experience and knowledge among educational institutions;
develop student services and support employment opportunities.

Vocational Education Program: Deck Department Operation
Qualification Awarded: Basic Vocational Qualification in Deck Department Operation – Rating
The duration of the program is 18 months: 12 months of theoretical training and 6 months of practical training onboard a vessel.
Admission Requirements: At least a document confirming completion of basic general education (9th grade), internal testing, and a motivational interview.
Graduates may be employed on vessels engaged in international or domestic navigation, as well as in public or private institutions related to maritime transport services and operations.
Registration for the vocational education program will remain open through September 10.

Meeting with School Students
As part of an Open Day, Meridian welcomed students from School Euro-2000.
To promote the seafaring profession and introduce students to its specific features, Meridian organized an introductory meeting for 10th and 11th-grade students.
During the meeting, the students learned about the challenges, advantages, and specific characteristics of the seafaring profession. They also had the opportunity to explore a realistic ship bridge and engine room environment using modern simulators.
In addition, the students were introduced to the importance of basic safety procedures onboard vessels and the fundamental principles of first aid.

As part of the Open Day, Meridian hosted representatives of crewing companies.
During the meeting, the companies were introduced to the latest developments and future plans at Meridian, which are aimed at supporting the success and career advancement of Georgian seafarers.
